Atlanta Small Business Interview with Jill Wener, MD of Conscious Health Meditation

Updated: Dec 2, 2021

This week, I'm featuring an interview with Jill Wener, MD of Conscious Health Meditation.

How long have you been in business and what inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

I just had my 2-year anniversary! I learned to meditate 7 years ago during a period of profound burnout in my Internal Medicine practice. It was so effective at managing my stress that I decided to become a teacher of Conscious Health Meditation, and the rest is history!

What has been your biggest business challenge?

The road to becoming a doctor isn't easy at all, but it has prescribed milestones, and then you move along to the next step of your career. As an entrepreneur, however, there are no rules, and all bets are off. My inner type-A has had to learn that even if I'm trying my hardest, there are still lots of ups and downs. Luckily, I'm a meditation teacher, so my whole business is teaching people to embrace whatever is happening in that moment :)

What has been your proudest accomplishment?

There are so many little accomplishments along the way that I'm proud of! Building a website, moving into my first studio space, my first podcast, speaking at medical conferences. I try my hardest to appreciate the smaller steps along the way, and every year, I take stock of all of my growth, personally and professionally.

How do quality photos help you with business branding and marketing?

Conscious Health Meditation is all about breaking down meditation stereotypes. We sit with our back supported, and we don't have to cross our legs or hold our hands in specific positions while we meditate. It's important that photos portray all that is unique about the type of meditation I teach, and also that the photos show a glimpse of what can look like with the benefits of a regular meditation practice.

Why did you pick Bonnie as your photographer, and why would you recommend her to other entrepreneurs?

Bonnie really takes the time to set the stage for a photoshoot, and she is impeccable at giving instructions to make a shot great. She knows which body positions look the best, and has all sorts of tricks to get the best out of her subjects, who are often not very comfortable in front of a camera. Bonnie will make any entrepreneur feel great during the photo shoot, and even more important, they will look amazing in their branding and marketing pics!
